Tadalafil (Cialis) for Erectile Dysfunction: how it Works
Tadalafil of 5 milligrams is a common dose of this medicine.
1. Medical indications
Erectile dysfunction (DE)
-it helps to improve the ability to achieve and maintain an adequate erection by increasing blood flow to the penis. It works by inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE-5), allowing the smooth muscles of the penis to relax and dilate blood vessels.
Pulmonary hypertension (HP): in some cases, tadalafil can be used in HP to improve pulmonary blood circulation and functional capacity of the heart.
2. Mode of administration
-it is usually taken by mouth, with or without food. In some cases, however, the doctor may indicate preferences depending on the individual tolerance and expected efficacy.
3. Precautions and contraindications
Drug interactions: may interact with nitrates (e.g. nitroglycerin), which can lead to a dangerous drop in blood pressure. It may also interact with certain CYP3A4 enzyme inhibitors, which can increase the plasma concentration of tadalafil and increase the risk of adverse effects.
Partial contraindications: should not be used in patients with a hypersensitivity to tadalafil or any of the ingredients of the medicine. In addition, in patients with severe or unstable heart problems, the risk-benefit prior to administration should be carefully assessed.
It is essential that tadalafil be used under medical supervision, as adequate diagnosis and clinical follow-up are essential for safe and effective treatment.
