Tadalafil 5mg (Cialis) for Erectile Dysfunction
Tadalafil at 5 mg is used mainly for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) in men.
1. Mechanism of action in erectile dysfunction
-Tadalafil inhibits the enzyme phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE-5). PDE-5 is responsible for the degradation of cyclic monophosphate guanosin (cGMP) in the cavernous tissue of the penis. By inhibiting PDE-5, tadalafil allows cGMP levels to remain high. CGMP relaxes smooth muscles in cavernous tissue, allowing greater blood flow to the penis, facilitating erection.
2. Other potential uses
-it has also been studied for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension. In this case, relaxing pulmonary vascular muscles can improve pulmonary blood pressure and cardiac function in patients with pulmonary hypertension. However, the dose and indication for this use may be different from that used for erectile dysfunction.
In addition, its potential role in improving the sexual function of women has been investigated, although it is currently not approved for this purpose in most countries.
It is important to note that tadalafil should be prescribed by a doctor and consideration should be given to possible interactions with other medicines and contraindications, such as in patients with certain serious heart problems or taking nitrate medicines.
